Hi! My name is Abbie, I am excited that you are reading my blog!

The short version (yes, that's a short joke): I am a follower of Christ learning to be content with all God has blessed me with and to live for His glory. I am a farm kid, a photographer, a firefighter and an old-fashion county girl.

My story. 

I grew up on a century farm in Pennsylvania raising sheep and growing organic vegetables. I spent hours working and playing on the farm with my family. Often "playtime" meant going hunting. I learned at a young age to gut a deer, fix a tractor and I was baking cookies before I could reach the kitchen counter. I am thankful that I was raised to work hard and taught valuable life skills.  

After high school I went to The Pennsylvania State University to study agriculture (imagine that!). I have now been blessed with the chance to combine my farm background and education to work for AgrAbility for Pennsylvanians. Our mission is to enable farmers and ranchers with disabilities to continue farming.  The thing is, I told my Grandmother way back in high school that my dream job would be helping farmers with disabilities... 

My two other passions are photography and firefighting. I have loved creating pictures for as long as I can remember. In high school I started taking pictures for friends, pictures for weddings, pictures of the farm and family. I have had lots of amazing opportunities to take pictures over the years, including taking pictures from the PILOT'S seat (ahhhh!!) of an airplane. A few years ago I started taking pictures for my local fire company. They asked if I would take pictures of fires, accidents, training and events. But it wasn't long before I decided become a firefighter. I am now trained as a firefighter and I am also trained in vehicle rescue and wildland firefighting. On more than one occasion our chief was asked who the little kid in fire gear is.. but hey, my size has come in handy a few times!

In between all that I spend time cooking, baking, gardening, caring for family and critters, sewing, crocheting, writing, reading and spending as much time outside as possible!

This blog is about my my walk with God and my journey as a 23 year-old who is just a little old-fashion and sometimes creative. I write about critters, gardening, adventures, firefighting, photography and throw in a story telling too. I hope you enjoy reading and learning along with me!
